THE PROBLEM

You’ve frozen on this question before

Maybe a cover designer asked. Maybe it was KDP, in a dropdown, at eleven at night.

And you couldn’t answer—not because you don’t know your book, but because you know it too well. It’s a romance, but there’s a mystery. It’s fantasy, but it’s cozy. It’s got dragons and it isn’t romantasy.

So you picked something broad and safe.

That one decision sits upstream of everything else. Your cover has to promise a specific reading experience. Your blurb has to use the words a specific reader scans for. Your ads have to find people already buying books like yours. Your comps have to be books selling to your readers—and you can’t find comps until you know your shelf.

Every marketing decision you’re about to make depends on an answer you don’t have yet.

WHAT YOU GET

Four parts, built from one deep read

Part One — Your Book. You wrote ninety thousand words and still can't say what it's about without rambling. This hands you the language—your themes, your tropes, and the exact moments your readers will fall for.

Part Two — Your Genre Road Map. A genre answer you can actually defend, with the reasoning attached.

Part Three — Your Categories & Comps. "Find your readers" is useless advice without a how. This is the how: the authors already selling to your exact reader, and the shelves those readers browse.

Part Four — Your Blurbs. Because you'd rather write another whole book than write the blurb. Three of them ready to paste.

BUILT FOR GENRE FICTION

It won’t shove your book somewhere it doesn’t belong

Romance — One central love story and a happy ending you're not allowed to skip. The relationship is the plot, not the subplot. If you could pull the romance out and still have a book, you're not writing romance.

Mystery — Something happened, and the reader gets to work it out alongside somebody clever. The puzzle is the engine. The pleasure is in the figuring, which is why the ending has to be fair.

Fantasy — A world that runs on rules ours doesn't, and rules is the operative word. Magic that costs nothing isn't magic, it's convenience—and readers can feel the difference from a mile off.

Science fiction — The what-if taken seriously. Something is possible here that isn't possible now, and the story is what people become because of it.

Horror — Dread, sustained. Not a scary moment or two—a book that keeps the lights low and doesn't let you relax. The fear is the point, not the seasoning.

.docx, .doc, or .txt—up to 150,000 words, which covers novellas through epic fantasy. PDFs aren’t supported; if that’s all you have, save it out as a Word file or paste it into a plain text file first.

Neither. A partial works. However, the more you send, the sharper the report.

Yes, it uses AI. But don’t worry. Your manuscript is never used to train any AI model, and I don’t keep a copy of it.
